Rule 1
COMMON SENSE

Common sense will thrive where rules will not. The administration team reserves the right to apply judgment when they see fit.

The BCRP rules might contain loopholes but you are expected to use common sense; in most cases, if you think that something might be punishable or not allowed, you're probably right.

The administration staff (in a majority vote AND eith management approval) reserves the right to remove players who we regard as unfit for the server. The server owner reserves the right to overrule the entire team's decision. This rule is not to be used in complaints or reports, only within the administration staff can decide when this rule is relevant.

Rule 2
NO POWERGAMING OR METAGAMING

Metagaming and powergaming is unfair toward other players and can potentially ruin roleplay.

Metagaming can be defined as using Out of Character (OOC) information In Character (IC).

For example:
1. Using an OOC chat like /ooc or external applications like Skype, Steam or Discord to contact someone and distribute IC information while not in an IC channel.
2. Using someone's name-tag to gain IC information about him/her while you've never met ICly.
3. Describing how someone looks like via "/me describes John Smith"

Powergaming can be defined as two things. One of them is forcing actions upon a player, the other is doing superhuman and unrealistic actions.

For example:
1. Using a /me and forcing the action to be successful without letting the other party respond.
2. Roleplaying lifting up a vehicle with one hand and throwing it away.

You may not Roleplay unrealistic, supernatural, or unfair actions. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Changing clothes without any roleplay.
  • Bunnyhopping - Repeatedly pressing the jump key to get around faster on foot.
  • Using a skin that doesn't fit your character's race

Rule 3
NO DEATHMATCHING

You may not kill players without a valid reason to do so, and that reason must be up to roleplay standards. Violent actions come with consequences, and clear consideration of these consequences should be clearly reflected in the actions.

Deathmatching is when you are killing / inflicting injuries upon a player for a reason that does not justify such extreme actions, or without a reason at all.

Revenge Killing
Killing, injuring or engaging with a player who has previously killed you. After your character gets killed - they no longer remember anything about their death, and you're not allowed to use your OOC knowledge about the death in any way ICly. Returning to the scene of your death for any reason (e.g, retrieving your vehicle) is not allowed and you should wait until the situation has come to an end before returning to the area. This includes doing these things with an alternative character.

Car-parking
Using a vehicle to park (not ram) on top of somebody with the intention to kill them.

Rule 3
CHARACTER KILLS (CK) CANNOT BE FORCED UPON A PLAYER

Every player must agree to the CK via an OOC agreement

A Character Kill is when you agree to have your character's life ended via death, and must create a new character. You may not bring back a previously CKed character. Forcing a CK on someone is not allowed, however there are some exceptions:

Committing suicide to avoid roleplay/arrest
Results in a CK and and admin action. These are Non-RP actions with clear intention to get out of situations. There are circumnstances where this is allowed but requires roleplay/background.

If your injuries do not warrant death but you still roleplay dying, you will be CKed.
If your character has (obvious) chances of survival, but you still decide to roleplay dead - you will be CK'ed. However, if heavy injuries have been inflicted on you by a second party (eg. being rammed off a bike or shot during a drive-by) and you end up dying during the roleplay - your death will be a PK and not a CK. (PK = Player kill aka regular death)

Rule 4
YOU MUST REMAIN IN CHARACTER AT ALL TIMES

Unless specified otherwise by the administration staff.

This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Abusing the IC chat to OOCly to troll another player
  • Jumping around aimlessly with no RP involved
  • Skipping / voiding roleplay situations without administrative permission.
  • Complaining via any OOC chats about the way the roleplay scenario turned out.
  • Asking reasons for your arrest OOCly. Arrests (false and legit) are to be dealt with ICly.

Administrative assistance:
If you think the other player broke the rules or you're in a disagreement with them - you are entitled to call in an administrator for help. However, you are not allowed to pause the roleplay until the admin arrives unless the other player agrees to pause it. If they don't agree - you have to continue roleplaying and post a forum complaint after the roleplay is over. Be sure to include screen shots and videos as evidence.

Rule 5
SPAMMING

General rules about Spamming you need to know.

You may not spam any chats.
The reasoning behind this rule should be clear. Other players intend to roleplay around you and the spamming of a chat will make it more difficult for them to do so. As such, action will be taken against spammers.

Do not spam commands
Administrators have multiple duties in which they need to adhere to. We understand that players who are breaking the rules can be frustrating but admins will usually have a queue of things they must attend to first. Rest assured that your report/assistance will be looked at.

Rule 6
OOC CONVERSATIONS

General rules about Out of Character conversations you need to know.
/ooc is an English-only chat.
English is the language that administrators can police properly. You might be denied access to the server if your English abilities are not capable enough.

Rule 7
NO ADVERTISING OTHER SERVERS

Rule 8
USING OOC METHODS TO ESCAPE ROLEPLAY IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN

Escaping roleplay after it has been started is strictly forbidden, it ruins the roleplay for all parties involved.

You are not allowed to leave a roleplay situation without permission from an administrator or the other parties involved.

You may not:
  • quit to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • afk to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • Force a game crash to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • Turn off your router (or disconnect from the internet in any way) to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • Ask an administrator to teleport you during a roleplay situation

You must not log out or avoid RP until 10 minutes after a RP scenario has finished, where the other parties may be interested in finding you or reporting you to the police. For example, if you are being chased by the police (or other players) you may not leave the server or afk until the 10 minute timer is up, as it will be classified as avoiding roleplay. SASP or any other legal agency must inform the suspect(s) if they're surrounded.

If you legitimately crash/disconnect during a roleplay situation you will usually be given around 5 minutes to come back online. If you don't come back in time you will receive punishment for leaving to avoid roleplay - if you find yourself in such a situation you can try to get ahold of the banning admin (via discord or forum PMs) and explain the situation to them.

RULE 9
DRIVING/VEHICLE RULES

We all wish to promote fairness towards everyone while driving a vehicle, therefor there are a few rules considering driving and vehicles in general.

Using side-job vehicles for personal use is not allowed, as it is unfair towards players wishing to use the vehicles for their intended purpose.

Non-RP driving is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: heavy offroading with non-offroad vehicles, stunting, mountain climbing, cliff jumping, drifting on sidewalks.

Landing helicopters in unsafe areas / flying too low is not allowed. Aircraft should only be landed in areas which are safe to land in (i.e. the landing zone is stable and free of hazards such as power cables and street lights). Likewise, landing on buildings in built-up areas or flying too low over them is also not allowed.

Rule 10
EVADING A BAN IS FORBIDDEN

Aiding a ban evading player through any means is also prohibited.

Players that are banned from the server should make no attempt to create new accounts. Instead, they should wait out their existing bans and appeal when instructed by administration.

Anyone suspected of evading an account ban should be reported to the server's administration. Directly aiding a ban evading player in regaining their position on the server (eg. by giving them assets, offering quick rank-ups in factions or letting them use your account) is also forbidden and action will be taken on players found doing this.

Rule 11
YOU MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE FACTION WEAPONS OR ARMOR

Rule 12
YOU MAY NOT NAME YOUR CHARACTER AFTER A FAMOUS PERSON

Rule 13
IF AN ITEM IS SCRIPT WISE IN YOUR POSSESSION, IT IS IN YOUR POSSESSION

If you are searched and are carrying any items that the searching player wishes to confiscate; you may -NOT- RP that the item is elsewhere.

If you've specifically roleplayed hiding your goods to make them harder to find (for example stuffing cocaine bags into your shoe or strapping a handgun under your car) - you are expected to provide screenshot proof of those actions to everyone who requests it. The screenshot must have time-stamps enabled. If no proof of hiding an item is given - it is up to the person conducting the search to believe you or not.

Rule 14
REPLENISHING HEALTH AND/OR ARMOUR DURING COMBAT

Any and all methods of increasing your current health/armour rating whilst in a shootout/brawl or other similar combat scenarios that may lead to severe injuries caused by physical conflict is strictly prohibited.

Rule 15
ACCOUNT RULES & SECURITY

It has been decided that all BCRP related Accounts cannot be shared between players (Forum/Discord/ETC). Your Accounts are for you, and you alone.

Rule 16
PULLING OUT WEAPONS

It is not allowed to pull out a large melee weapon or a firearm without roleplaying the action with a /me or /do, unless they're visibly holstered on your body and visible. This rule does not apply to small melee weapons or firearms, which can be pulled out with no roleplay even if not visibly holstered

Weapons that fall under the "small" criteria are:
  • Most handguns

Rule 17
ROLEPLAYING INJURIES

You are expected to roleplay your injuries if you get wounded or injured during roleplay.

- If you get shot/wounded while in an active shootout or brawl - you don't have to roleplay your injuries until the shootout/brawl is over unless you so choose. After it's over and if you weren't killed in the process - you will have to roleplay your injuries.

- If you get shot/wounded outside of an active shootout or brawl (eg. someone shoots you in the leg while you're unarmed) - you have to roleplay your injuries.

- If you get downed - you have to roleplay your injuries no matter if you're in an active shootout/brawl or not (depending on the type of wounds, they might or might not be injuries that could cause death).

- If you get downed and executed - you're dead, no roleplaying injuries required.
